Half day fishing on the Overdrawn can be either sound fishing or inshore ocean fishing. We will always let you know where we think the most fish will be found but we will fish whichever area you are interested in. Half days are perfect for families with children or senior citizens who cannot spend the whole day on the water. Half day trips can be morning or afternoon, which you will choose when you book with us.
Half Day Sound and Inlet Fishing
Fishing half days in the sounds of the Outer Banks, we often target various bottom fish, drifting in the open water or fishing around underwater structures or bridges located throughout the area. You can expect to catch a a variety of fish in the sounds like trout, spot, croaker, drum, flounder, sheepshead, striped bass, sea mullet and others. We fish with light spinning tackle, Penn and Shakespeare rods and reels, using bottom rigs with bait like shrimp or cut-bait, artificial lures, or may catch some live bait and drift or troll for striped bass if they are in season.
Half Day Inshore Ocean Fishing
When fishing in the ocean on half day trips we usually troll for popular gamefish like Bluefish or Spanish mackerel. If it's the right time of year, we may find Striped Bass or Shark. We use more heavy duty Penn and Shakespeare trolling rods and reels and will pull a variety of types of spoons, plugs, and live bait rigs to catch fish. When fishing for Sharks, please ask for that specific type of trip when booking.
